Trial Project

Starting on Thursday, 23rd October 2025, a new trial of an additional day, will be added to the calander for new and old members of Stroke Survivors LN9 (SSLN9).  This is in addition to the 1st Thursday of the month gathering, but with little structure, so attendance can be as and when or not at all if an existing member.
The aim to provide Social & Mental Practice Stimulation, as the title says.  This is totally new, so up until Christmas, each 3rd Thursday will be getting and implementing ideas from those interested.
If you are not currently a member, come and join for one or both Thursdays.  Costs are £3.00 per person per period, (not a monthly subscription), to cover room hire costs.

Social & Mental Practice Stimulation. (SMPS)

This is a trial subsidiary of Stroke Survivors LN9.  It is intended as a non-formal and non-medical period to help those Stroke and Brain injury survivors who may be struggling with the thought of socialising and have difficulty with coordination and cognition.  This will be by way of a variety of table games, media and computer games, and coffee/tea breaks.  Only with Stroke and Brain Injury Survivors, and partners, where applicable.

What!

As already stated, this is a trial which is to run until April 2026, but not in January.  Actual content is currently unknown, but will quickly grow to include meaningful games and content, in line with members' and their suggestions.

This will be seperate to the normal 1st Thursday SSLN9 gatherings.  However, regardless of whichever Thursday you attend, regular or sporadic, you will be a member of SSLN9 and all its benefits.

When & Where

In the Small Hall of the Horncastle Community Centre.  On the 3rd Thursday of each month, 10 am - 1 pm or any period in between. but excluding January.  A decision to continue permanently will be made during April.

However, if no one attends after 1045, that month will close.  This is to save on unnecessary room hire costs.

Why

As with SSLN9, the sole principle behind it is providing a safe, warm and private place to meet up with like-minded and like-experienced Survivors and Partners.  For discussion and interaction, but with now added benefit of socialising a bit more and maybe helping mental exercise and cognitivity.

About Us

This non-medical & informal group was formed in November 2022.  The overarching aim of the group is to give local area, Stroke Survivors, the chance to meet up with other local Stroke Survivors and Carers.  Thereby giving conversation and experience exchange opportunities.

The wider aim is to provide a self-help platform and common interest to aid social confidence and interest and all the benefits that come with it.
